Shut down#

Shutting down#

  1. Close NIS-Elements and wait about 10 seconds before turning off the scope body.
  2. Ensure the objectives are lowered all the way down
  3. Turn off scope body (before moving to next step, wait for light show/beeping to finish)
  4. Turn off X1 unit by rotating key counterclockwise
  5. Turn off controller for microscope
  6. Turn off laser box by rotating key counterclockwise
  7. Turn off surge protector (side switch)
  8. Cover the microscope

Shutting down (live-cell)#

  • Turn off the Tokai Hit unit by pushing the orange button.
  • Close the Apollo valve for CO2 by rotating clockwise 90 degrees until the yellow handle is perpendicular to the tubing.
  • Lower the objective as far as it'll go1.
  • Remove the objective warmer and set on air table.
  • Remove stage top incubator lid and set on air table.
  • Remove water from reservoir using a syringe, and deposit into glass beaker labelled "waste".
  • When no more water can be removed using the syringe, switch to using a KimWipe to soak up the remaining water.
  • Inspect your sample adapter for oil (and clean if needed).
  • See normal shut-down procedures
